A FEW WORDS FROM ARMANDO GONZÁLEZ (CHIEF EXECUTIVE AND ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF APLEIN INGENIEROS, S.A.)

First of all I would like to note that the most important thing in these 25 years has been the satisfaction of being able to keep offering advanced technical solutions to our customers, together with being at the cutting edge of knowledge and progress as we have applied new technologies.

This satisfaction would not exist without a team of staff to take on and meet these challenges, a network of people with ideas, innovations and attention to detail that ensure that the demands made of us are met.

I would also like to thank all of our customers who have trusted us, and continue to trust us, and have seen their technical requirements satisfied.

Likewise, on the subject of satisfaction, we would like to thank our partners, our manufacturing suppliers, some of whom have been working with us for 20 years, for without the contributions and improvements that they make we would not be able to provide our solutions.

Sectors to which our activity is geared.

Our activity on the market is currently geared on the basis of our 3 business areas:

• Instrumentation: we have a strong presence in the refining and transport of oil products, the transport and distribution of gas, the petrochemical industry and the food industry.

• Integral Solutions for Control Centres: we undertake turnkey projects and are present in the sectors of transport, water distribution, energy, defence, telecommunications and security, among others.

• Electricity: we are present in the sectors of electricity transmission, distribution and generation.

Technological developments.

From the 80s to this new century, in which the dominant factors are competitiveness, globalization and the vertiginous speed of novelty and change, we have been true to the basis of our activity, namely our customers’ needs, and have always been guided by the principles of Technology, Quality Assurance and Innovation.

In the short and medium term our activity is tending towards technology based on communications systems.

Among other projects, we have rolled out mobile telephony communications systems in gas distribution networks, and we are ready to undertake similar projects in other sectors where this technology is applicable.

Expansion. The APLEIN INGENIEROS Group.

Established in Madrid in 1980 by engineers aiming to provide electronic solutions to industry, as early as 1986 the company set up its first subsidiary, in Portugal (APLEIN ENGENHEIROS, LDA). This subsidiary’s Manager, Isidro Pedro, was a key figure in the early stages of our geographic expansion.

Over these 25 years we have entered into distribution agreements with agents in the Americas, such as PROGOS and ROMATECH, in Chile, providing both technical and commercial support in the area, and recently we have made inroads into Asia with an agent located in Shanghai.

In 2005 we set up an American subsidiary (APLEIN INGENIEROS, S.A. DE C.V.) in Mexico City in partnership with Fernando Báez, giving us a strategically located platform from which to provide support to customers currently enjoying our technological solutions.

Challenges. Internationalization.

The great challenge facing us in the next few years is the foreign sector. The ambitious goal we are aiming at is to have 50% of our turnover in foreign business. We hope to achieve this in the medium term.
