TRANSFORMER PROTECTION SYSTEM CERTIFICATION
Last December, CEPEL, an electrical laboratory
with over 30 years experience in electrical equipment testing and one of
the few where it is possible to carry out large transformer testing, performed
34 tests on the SERGI TRANSFORMER PROTECTION system.
The tests were performed on standard three-phase 6MVA, 9MVA and 20 MVA transformers.
The electric arcs were produced by symmetric and asymmetric currents of
between 2,500 and 15,000 amps for between 25 to 83 milliseconds.
In all 34 tests carried out, the TRANSFORMER PROTECTION was activated,
the tank was depressurised and transformer explosion was prevented.
